Smart Cities
WHY SMART CITIES?
The digital revolution is increasingly impacting the urban landscape.
Changes in social demographics, shifting economics, challenging environmental situations and increasing constraints on resources are all rapidly driving a need for connected and intelligent communities.
Whether it is a thriving urban city with expansive suburban areas, a college or university campus, or even the vulnerable K-12 school districts, there is a need for smart technologies to bring safety, security and operational efficiencies to every space.

USE CASE: THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE
In 2018, the city of Albuquerque selected Sology Solutions to partner with Citelum, an engineering design firm, to introduce and implement Cisco smart city technologies, such as LED Smart Nodes and Cisco Kinetic (an IoT platform).
Albuquerque is upgrading 20,000 streetlights with LED Smart Nodes. The LED lights reduced operation costs, which has driven other initiatives around video analytics for pedestrian safety and license plate recognition for reducing car theft. The project was funded entirely by its own cost savings, not by customers or taxpayers.
The partnership between Sology and Citelum continues as they explore other opportunities within Albuquerque to improve city safety and economic development.
COMMUNITY BENEFITS
- Improved pedestrian and public safety
- Increased energy efficiency
- Higher percentage of operational streetlights
- Faster response times for light repair
- Reduced operational costs
